Q1) Where is this story set and when? How do you know?

Ans:
-      The story is set in an American city in the year 2053, as we know from the T.V programs that mentioned the state of Arizona and the elections in the previous year 2052.

Q2) what do people do after dusk has fallen in the world.

Ans:
People sit in their homes, watching T.V after dusk has fallen in this world.

Ans:
This world is an extremely peaceful place and crimes are so low that they have only one police car for a city with 3 million population.
Q4) what kind of person is Mr. Mead   ? does he fit into his world?

Ans:
Mr. Mead is a man who does not fit into his world as he refuses to have a viewing screen and prefers to go for a long walks every evening, he is a writer , a profession for which there is no longer any use in his world.

Q5) why do you think going for a walk is viewed as a regressive tendency .

Ans:
walking for fresh air and to see some sights are seen as regressive because in this world there are air conditioners in every house to provide air, and viewing screens so that people can see some interesting sights.
People stay indoors and do not stir outside and person such as Mr.Mead is regressive because he still goes for walks in the old fashioned way.

Q6) is the story about a future world as the author imagines it or does it have connections to today’s world as well?

Ans:
The story is about the future world which is similar to the world we are in today. A world where people spend a lot of time in front of viewing screens of one type or another, and where personal interaction is decreasing and there is lack of communication. But the fact about the crime rate makes it a different world too, as in our world there is no sign of the crime rate decreasing.
