Q1) What is meant by the terms:
I)   Sovereign                     II) Secular

Ans:
Sovereign:
 Sovereign means that India is now independent. It is no longer governed by any external authority and is its own master.

Secular:
          There is no discrimination on the basis of religion. All religions are treated equally.


Q2) What is meant by the terms:
I) Socialist                        II) Democratic

Ans:
Socialist:
          Everyone is given equal opportunities to make use of the resources of the country.

Democratic:
          The people of India govern themselves through their elected representative. Elections are conducted at regular intervals and the people can change the government if they so desire, in the elections.

Q3) What is meant by fundamental rights?

Ans:
          The fundamental rights are the basic rights guaranteed by the constitution and have legal sanction.
Ex: 1) All citizens are entitled to equal treatment before law. All enjoy equal rights and opportunities.

     2) The right to freedom includes freedom of speech and expression, freedom to assemble peacefully without arms.

Q4) What is the major difference between the fundamental rights and the fundamental duties?

Ans:
          Fundamental rights are guaranteed by law while fundamental duties are not enforced by law.

Q5) what is meant by the right to constitutional remedies?

Ans:
          It means that if anyone finds his / her rights being compromised , he or she has the right to appeal in the court of law.

Q6) Write a short note on the freedom of speech.

Ans:
The right to freedom includes freedom to speech and expression, freedom to assemble peacefully without arms. We are free to criticize or comment through the press, but we can’t do so without sufficient proof.

Q7) What are the three branches of a government?

Ans:
          The three branches of the government are:
1)   Legislature
2)   Executive
3)   Judiciary


Q8) Explain briefly the various fundamental rights granted to every citizen by the Indian constitution.

Ans:
The fundamental rights granted by the Indian constitution and have legal sanction are:
a) Right to equality
All citizens are entitled to equal treatment before law.

b) Right to freedom
The right to freedom includes freedom of speech and expression.

c) Right to freedom of religion.

d) Right to cultural and educational rights.

e) right against exploitation .
it protects people from being exploited

f) Right to constitutional remedies

Q9) What is meant by the directive principles of the state policy?

Ans:
The set of ideals which form the guiding principles of the government is called the directive principles of state policy. But this can’t be enforced by the court of law.

Q10) Describe the significance of the fundamental rights.

Ans:
The fundamental rights provided necessary conditions for the moral and the material problem at human beings.
- They protect the weaker sections of the society.
- They strengthen the secular system of the nation.
- The fundamental rights form the foundation of equitable society based on social and economic equality.

Q11) What is meant by the term parliamentary democracy?

Ans:
In a parliamentary form of government , there is a nominal head of state.
The nominal head is a hereditary monarch.

Q12) Describe the federal structure of Indian democracy

Ans:
India is governed at three levels , one government at the centre, the second at the regional of stat level, the other at the local. This separation of power at national level and at the regional level is known as federal division of power.

Q13)How does the preamble of the constirution define the republic of India?

Ans:
The preamble of Indian constitution says that India is a sovereign,socialist, democratic, republic country.
It will secure its citizen justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.
