Q1) What are the characteristics features of the modern age ?

Ans:
 The modern age was a period of great and sweeping changes
       1-   Industerialisation : the large scale production of goods in factories using machines and power.

       2-   urbanisation : the movement of people from villages to towns and cities in searchof a better quality of life.

       3-   nationalisation : patriotism and a growing identification with on’s homeland.

       4-   Socialism : a system where the state tries to ensure equitable distribution of wealth.
    
        5-   Scientific and technological progress.

        6-   Humanism: a greater concern for human welfare, dignity, and values.

Q2) What is meant by industrial revolution?

Ans:
The industrial revolution was an economic revolution which started in Britain around 1750. As the demand for more products grew, the domestic system of artisans working at home with simple tools was replaced by the “factory system “ where large machines now produced more of the same products faster and at a fraction of the cost.

Q3) What is the meaning of nationalism?

Ans:
A strong feeling of love, pride and loyalty that people have for their country. It is a patriotism and growing identification with one’s own homeland.
Q4) What are the ideals that became popular because of the French revolution?
Ans:
French revolution gave birth to the ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity.

Q4 ) Write in detail about the various sources of modern India history.

Ans:
Sources of information can be of two types (primary – secondary)
      -         Primary resource : are those that are original, like:
Artifacts archaeological sites, coins, monuments, inscription, travelogues and autobiography….etc.

Primary source also include government reports, letters, photographs, maps, diaries, newspaper, magazines and films.
      -         Secondary sources of information are secondhand accounts of events include text books, biographies, magazines, newspapers, and movies about historical events.

Q5)What is renaissance?

Ans:
- Renaissance was a movement that started in the 14th century in Italy and lasted till the 17th century.
- Renaissance means “ rebirth “
- Renaissance gave rise to the scientific method of enquiry.

    1)   Industrial revolution: a sweeping change in method of production brought about by mechanization in the 18th century.

    2)   Colonialism: the policy of acquiring other countries as colonies.

    3)   Imperialism: the policy of dominating other countries.

    4)   Fraternity : brotherhood

    5)   Liberty: freedom

    6)   Renaissance: a movement that reveal of ancient Greek and Roman art and literature.
